Hello,

I was interested in using this library to control a Leica SP5 running LAS-AF.

Do I need the CAM license to use leicacam?

As far as I know, you need a CAM license to activate the CAM feature in LAS AF. There's no specific check in leicacam though. This library just needs a server that accepts a connection over a socket from the library client on the port configured.
