what is the purpose of the resistors in the CAN RX line? #3

Hi,
There are some differences in connecting the esp32 to the mcp2551 displayed on various examples online. You use 2 resistors and the GND line connected in the RX line.
Could you explain what the purpose of those resistors is? I'm not saying it is wrong i just would like to understand the purpose.

It reduces the 5v from the can xcvr chip to 3.3v of the esp32.
