One of the issues with slack is having an instance per group. We should look at working with other groups in the area to create a Leeds Tech community slack so that there's one shared instance between the groups in the area. Each group would have a channel on the instance.

This would also allow for greater cross-pollination between groups and allow our groups to interact more.

There is already a Yorkshire Digital Slack, but it's invite-only and very quiet - it seems mostly just for meetup organisera. A more open one would be pretty awesome.

The entry can be done with something like https://slackpass.io/ which lets people put their email in and automatically get invited.

If anyone knows of other groups that would be interested in joining in on this, shout here please!

I also think a code of conduct is necessary, as well as having active admins to enforce it.

We used https://github.com/outsideris/slack-invite-automation to do our invites but haven't started using it yet.
