Adding new NPC in zone

Hi, i wanted to add few custom NPC in some zone. Ex. i want to add 4 new moogles in mog garden (they will give quests and other stuffs). I have to modify the Dat files? I tried to duplicate the green thumb moogle in the db with changed name and id, then i added in the zone lua but nothing happened.. What i did wrong?
