In isolation I like the name. But having talked to a bunch of people at this year's Eastercon about the fact they're using this, they naturally google it and the first result is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_Z - a Nazi plan. No one seriously thinks it is named after that, and they can see the route from Zambia to Plan Z, but it does sour people's first impression.

I think there's merit in this idea.

I agree this is a concern. I also find the large Z of the logo a bit too reminiscent of the Z painted on Russian tanks.

My feeling is we should try seeking some consensus on a new name from the fandom community. Any thoughts on how we could do this?

Zi Graves has suggested "Ariadne", for the metaphor of weaving all these threads and loose ends together.

Fionna O'Sullivan has suggested "PlanSched".

Fionna O'Sullivan has suggested "PlanSched".

A lot of scope for shed puns.

I'm fond of Ariadne as well.

There are a few other GitHub projects that use the name. This one seems to be popular-ish: https://github.com/mirumee/ariadne

But also: wasn't Arachne about weaving and Ariadne mazes?

Some sad news, for anyone not aware. Leane Verhulst, who started this fork, recently lost her battle with battle with cancer. She made a wonderful contribution to several conventions, particularly Capricon, but also many Worldcons.

Renaming the project after her would seem very appropriate.

I am very sorry to hear that. I enjoyed working with her in the short time we collaborated.

I think your idea is marvellous.
