I bet the overlap between people that want something like Autodoist and have the chops to get it running on their own is probably pretty limited. Even with a very clear guide or simple instructions (like you have), it's probably more than the large majority of potential users would like to do. Have you thought about offering the software as a service? You could probably offer it as a freemium service with some features for free but with the best features behind a paywall.

Hi there! This is indeed an idea that passed through my mind. It's not something I've done before, so that simply means it takes a bit more time to figure things out.
In addition I'd like to improve a few things first, like adding OAuth for better security, and perhaps implementing webhooks to lower the amounts of required syncing.
Since Autodoist is just a side-project at the moment, I don't have the time to set-up such a service on short-term. Nonetheless it is something on the near horizon.
Hey @Hoffelhas! I was poking around the Todoist subreddit when I find your GitHub repo. I built myself a similar system to yours in order to add functionality to Todoist that I personally wanted. My program is already a server-based implementation with webhooks that react to todoist actions immediately. Interestingly, I already built one of your features exactly.. It seems Todoist users want certain things from Todoist that it doesn't natively offer.
I was thinking about taking it to the next step and offering exactly what @JustMaier is suggesting. I want to build a freemium service to test my abilities as a programmer and take a stab at some of the more business-oriented aspects of building interesting software tools.
Are you interested in a video call to chat about what you built, what I built, and what a future product could look like?
