Hammer feels fantastic to use and is really efficient. However, I do have an idea for how the "Thicken" tool can be expanded on or overhauled. Currently the method of extruding along a surface feels very tedious. Let's say I have an Arch with open edges that I would like to extrude from. The only way I was able to figure out how to do this with more than a square grid space of thickness would be to fill in the void space, modify the topology in order to have proper edgeflow, connect the edge ring so there is a lone edge running along the surface, then deleting the faces I don't need. Rinse and repeat until I get the thickness I desire. Another method that could probably work is to thicken the faces, extract them, then thicken again, and merge the meshes.
Though these methods do work, I feel it would be far more efficient to have modifiable parameters added to the Thicken tool. A good example would be Maya's extrusion tool. You select the faces, apply extrusion, and it displays values that you can modify such as Thickness, Offset, and Division amount (or Steps in Source 2's case). Maybe there could be another window for these parameters in the left panel.
I believe this would be a very valuable addition to the Hammer tools. It would speed up modeling to a considerable degree. And it would also feel right at home since Hammer has a lot of traditional modeling tools included out of the box.
Thank's for reading and I hope you consider my suggestion. Have a good day : )
