Streaming from PS4 + using Lightstream & Discord audio

Hello, apologies for posting previously in the ‘Issues’, (and is now closed) I didn’t know how this site worked! I recently wanted to stream from my PS4 using Lightstream but also include my discord audio + my mic audio from my Mac.
I’m a complete noob at this stuff, but I finally figured it out after testing it last night. In case this is helpful to others, I’ll post the steps I followed and show settings (should be able to apply this to Windows).

1. Followed Blackhole setup instructions exactly. I created A Multi-output device & aggregate device under the 'Audio MIDI setup' application on mac. Ignore the 'VB-Cable' I didn't end up needing that.

• Also note I didn’t change the names of the Multi/aggregate device, but you can rename if its easier for you. *

2. System Audio:

• Input: External Mic
• Output: Multi-output device

3. Discord - set audio in settings as:

• Input: Aggregate device
• Output: Multi-output device

why ^ : I couldn’t set either as Blackhole or I couldn’t hear my friend in discord. This was the combination that worked for me

4. Next, GarageBand (or any DAW should work) is necessary to mix & what I used.

• Choose empty project > Track type: Audio/ record using a microphone
• Under details > I chose input 1

• Click on the small arrow to the right of where your input device appears
• This brings up preferences & audio/MIDI > I set the audio as:
  • Input: Built-in microphone
  • Output: Blackhole 16ch

• Then selected ‘create’
• Putting a screenshot of my settings below. Make sure the monitoring is on (the orange icon).
• Also make sure the [1234 icon] or ‘count in’ and the ‘click’ icon next to it isn’t purple, meaning it’s on.
• All other settings you can mess with, I choice to include noise gate out of preference.

• GarageBand must be running/minimized for the stream to hear you.

5. Lightstream settings: (Lightstream in chrome/your browser must also be open the whole time if adding audio)

• To add Blackhole to Lightstream is easier than this whole process.
• First make sure Lightstream site is allowed to access your mic/camera. If you are not using your camera just allow it anyway, then refresh the page.
• Next go to ‘Layers’ & click the green plus > then click ‘Audio Source’. If all steps have been done correctly, you will see Blackhole, the aggregate device and other sources. If you do not see Blackhole, a step has been done wrong or you aren’t allowing Lightstream to access your mic/camera.
• Once you add Blackhole to the Audio Mixer, you can adjust the volume. I turned off ‘optimize for music’ since it is picking up my mic.

If you close the browser, stream will no longer be able to hear you. This I found is an issue, because if you have alerts set up, they will play through the browser. Solution: mute the tab Lightstream is on. Stream won’t be able to hear any alerts twice.

If you have all of this setup, I also tested playing music through Spotify, and that is also picked up through Blackhole.

I recommend testing this with a quick test stream, as I did, to adjust audio levels. I'm no expert on this stuff, but this worked for me. Hope this is helpful :) - qtToasty
