A number of people have wondered what pathtimema is as derived from the NHDPlusV2 that can be retrieved with nhdplusTools.

subset_file <- tempfile(fileext = ".gpkg")

subset <- subset_nhdplus(
  comids = 9609466,
  output_file = subset_file,
  nhdplus_data = "download",
  flowline_only = TRUE,
  return_data = TRUE,
  overwrite = TRUE)

flowline <- subset$NHDFlowline_Network

flowline$pathtimema

Inquiry to EPA staff resulted in the following detail about the variable:

PathTimeMA is the time in days it takes to get from your current location to the end of the network. The variable was added to the NHDPlusV2 somewhat last minute but not documented in the NHDPlusV2 users manual.
