tigl3 installation problem python and matlab

Hello,
I'm having a problem with the "tigl3" which is:

1. The PATH (Windows) / LD_LIBRARY_PATH (Linux) environment variable points to the library\n" +
   Exception: Could not load the tigl3 library. Please check if:
2. The PATH (Windows) / LD_LIBRARY_PATH (Linux) environment variable points to the library
3. The architecture of the library matches the architecture of python (a 32 bit python needs a 32 bit shared library)

could you please help me?????

The problem can be solved by commenting the raised exception and loading the library like this:

    lib = ctypes.cdll.LoadLibrary(r"E:\Materials\Internships\Dynamical systems\TIGL-3.2.3-win64\bin\tixi3.dll")

My best guess for this is that the directory containing the tixi3.dll is not on your windows system PATH. Can you try if entering the following command in Matlab helps?

setenv('PATH', [getenv('PATH') ';' 'XXXXX']);

where you replace XXXXX with the directory containing tixi3.dll? You would have to do the same for tigl3.dll.

what should I replace 'PATH' with?

Leave it as it is. PATH is the name of the environment variable for the windows system path, that you want to change. It is a list of directories Windows uses to search for binaries and dlls, separated by semicolon. The above command just temporarily (that is in your current Matlab session) appends one more directory to the PATH.

Alternatively, you can modify the PATH directly in Windows rather than Matlab, see e.g. here.

I guess the problem isn't in the path. I tracked the mex error and it seems like the problem is in tiglmatlab.c and tiximatlab.c as both of them contains #include <tigl.h> and #include <tixi.h> , but tixi.h and tigl.h cannot be found. the error message is "No such file or directory".

And if I am using tigl 3.2.3 and tixi 3.3.0 is it a problem?

Hmm, no tigl 3.2.3 and tixi 3.3.0 are compatible to each other. The .c and .h files are only needed if you want to compile the mex files yourself. On Windows this should not be necessary, because precompiled mex-files are provided.

In principle to work with tixi and tigl from Matlab in Windows it should suffice to

• have tixi3.dll and tigl3.dll in your Windows path
• have tixi3_matlab.mexw64 and tigl_matlab.mexw64 in your Matlab search path.

Unfortunately I cannot test it locally because I don't have a Matlab license I can use right now.
