After a few seconds that I got No services found near your location for a category, I click again and do get results, for the same category and the same location. This makes the app look broken, but I assume this is some API or connectivity issue? (This seems similar to the openstreetmap.org search sometimes failing with Too many requests.)
I also get No services found near your location when I am offline.
So this message seems to be printed whenever something goes wrong. Showing the underlying error message from the API (or at least Retry in a few seconds) would be more appropriate. Other parts of the GUI already show technical info anyway (the key identifiers and the tag values appear in a POI's info and in the Add POI form, and they occasionally need OSM knowledge to be understandable).
