Beachballs while typing #152

The longer the 'chat' went on, typing in the input field (setting focus) gets slower and starts with beachballs.
Reopening the app solves it.

In addition, after each message, the input field loses focus.

Same here, typing is excruciatingly slow after pasting in long text.
