It seems like CSSLint has been abandoned - for example the issue regarding linting errors with CSS variables has been open for over 5 years. Perhaps this package should be marked as deprecated and point users towards a maintained CSS linter such as linter-stylelint - or at least mention the lack of support for modern CSS in the package description.
