Im noticing the zone detection setup in the HLKRadar Tool app completely stops working after HA is restarted or shutdown unexpectedly. Every time i have to go into the app, reconnect with Bluetooth and then it will come back on.

Hmmm do you have the MTR's bluetooth switch in HA turned off after you finish setting the zones in the HLKRadar tool?

Does the HLKRadar tool show any firmware updates for the ld2450?

Thanks for the quick response. The Bluetooth is turned off. Is it supposed to be on? It looks like there is an update within ESP home for it. I will try and update it. Was there a known bug in the old firmware?

Updates are kinda confusing, there are ESPHome updates that do nothing really for our sensors, there are Apollo updates if we change our code on the MTR, and then inside the HLK app it shows firmware for the actual radar sensor (ld2450) on the MTR.

No, I've not heard of the issue just helps if everything is most up to date so we can compare behavior.

How do you update through Apollo? I just updated through ESPHome and checked the HLK firmware and that is the latest version already.

You can update through the ESPHome addon or we have a flashing page. But another user in our discord actually just mentioned they had a similar problem with the HLK app but it would reset the values when the MTR restarted not HA.

Their solution was to use HA to set the values for the zones on the MTR not the HLK app and then it was working better. Could you give that a try on a zone and see if it works?

Let me give that a try because it does seem the values get reset in HA.

One of our users said that they edited a zone in home assistant and then restarted home assistant and the zones persisted - let us know if that helps!

I'm not sure if this is related issue, but the 'Multi Target Tracking' toggle always switches off after a device and HA reboot.
I always have to toggle it back on in HA manually. Been having this issue for several months.

I've got a similar behavior.
added the device to ESPHome Builder and added
the binary sensor in the config
https://wiki.apolloautomation.com/products/mtr1/setup/sensor-definitions/#binary-sensor

If i restart the device by removing the power
Multi target tracking is off
Bluetooth is off
Pressure/temperature/lux are updating
all motion related is: unknown

to get it working again i have to enable Bluetooth, then it works normally,
Multi Target Tracking switch has no effect in this case.

i also tried to set it to
restore_mode: RESTORE_DEFAULT_ON
no change
It shows as ON, but to get the sensor working i have to disable AND enable it
