It happens on Yosemite, El Cap High Sierra and Mojave machines here.
i have a large HOSTS which i use Gas Mask (latest version) to switch between 'Original file' and my 6Mb hosts file - so i can tell just by looking at the menu bar, which HOSTS file is enabled.
it works fine, but most times when i bring the preferences UI up, and try to rename the names Gas Mask displays on the menu bar - either clicking or right-clicking to edit the friendly name results in the beachball and CPU usage maxxing out, requiring me to kill the process, this happens pretty much every time i try to do this.
If i don't attempt to rename the names Gas Mask displays on the menubar, it works as expected.
