Who is the audience?

Anyone who produces plots in a team may be want know what tools there are and why they should use one or another. At 2DII we have people with experience in many popular tools. It would be great to discuss which tool is the best fit for what job.

Why is this important?

[@jdhoffa and I] think it is important to make a more conscious decision about the language we use for various projects going forward and what the options are -- @Clare2D

What should be covered?

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
-- Albert Einstein

We plan to overview and discuss popular tools to create plots and add interactivity, ranging from simple to complex. These meetups should let you decide when you can do your job with the simplest tools, and when you will need more complex ones.

2020-07-07 (Mauro):

  • Introduction to the overall issue
  • Try the simplest tools: Create plots with ggplot2 and make them interactive with plotly.

2020-07-14 (Pranav):

  • htmlwidgets and Shiny.
  • Discussion: When to use what and why?
